In this open letter to the IRTA Executive Director, I ask for the release of the suppressed GETS Summary Report and offer advice on a range of issues moving forward from a month of active blogging in which IRTA and the Universal Currency has been a major topic. Credibility is a key topic. It’s important!
In an act of supreme stupidity, something that could have been taken right out of a script from Dumb and Dumber, Ron Whitney, Executive Director of IRTA took the bait offered to him and responded to Dutch barter company TradeXchange’s question:
Also are you aware of the TradeQoin scam?
And what is your reaction on this matter?
Regarding the internet blogs that you referenced, IRTA and UC do not consider the accusations, information and conclusions in Dennis Smith’s blogs to be credible, including the most recent ones involving Mr. van Hilten.
The context of this question was an email sent by Ron Whitney to Jacob on 16 april 2014 at 17.41 which invited Jacob to share knowledge of any fraud:
If you have credible evidence that fraud is being committed in the industry, we want to know about it.
Open Letter to Ron Whitney (Eexutive Director, IRTA)
Which part of scam don’t you understand?
The false membership numbers, claimed to be 200, listed on their website as 176, proven valid to be less than 150 of which only 6% report any intention to remain members following the Freemium expiry period?
Perhaps the fact that Tradeqoin is a FREEMIUM business model in the same business model as conman Daniel Evan’s Ormita fraud? Remember . . . the fraudster that you worked so hard to reveal with me when I wrote The Ormita Report?
Or perhaps the part that involved HUNDREDS of phone calls to complete a multiple-week telephony campaign to get actual FACTS to show you that an IRTA Board Member is running a “fake-it-until-you-make-it” crowdfunding scam?
Maybe the part that says that growth to 5230 Members all paying €25.00 per month would be THE most incredible success story of all time, never achieved in the history of the industry let alone by a company that has had multiple failures in this industry before and has lived off grants from the public purse for DECADES – yes, not just years but DECADES?
Or perhaps that even if they DID get their €150k or 5230 members that even with their own figures they still wouldn’t break even, let alone make a profit?
You state that you are speaking on behalf of IRTA and UC when considering my blogging:
Regarding the internet blogs that you referenced, IRTA and UC do not consider [etc]
You replied instantly to Jacob’s email. Is this the ‘pluralis maiestatis‘ in which you can speak for all other parties involved? You replied within hours of my posting with a claim of lack of credibility yet you did not even speak to me regarding the contents of my investigation. Did you ask for a copy of my telephony research? Did you view the statistics and where I got them from? Did you check the time and date of the calls? Did you validate the source of the core data I used as coming from Tradeqoin’s own website, live in realtime? Have you even read the Tradeqoin Prospectus? Did you check the translation of the Dutch Crowdfunding forum comments in which Rob van Hilten confirms the business model as presented in the Prospectus? What about speaking to anybody on the IRTA Board to confirm or validate my research?
Nope. Nope! NOPE! Nothing . . . just a hastily scribbled ad hominem attacking the messenger because Rob van Hilten is on the IRTA Board and therefore, well you must defend him at all costs.
Ron, can I help you to understand something here please . . . it’s perfectly understandable for you and Annette to issue pieces of spin. Everyone can accept that is part of life. Even I grant you that right, albeit equal with my right to counter them and show them up for what they are BUT when you actually believe your own spin, you have ‘lost the plot’ totally. Thinking that weeks of research into one Dutch scam had anything to do with my supposed beef with IRTA for whatever reason is just plain STUPID! Even a child can see that I only spoke about the facts as Tradeqoin presented them . Even a child could see that there was nothing personal in exposing the scam. Even a child could see that the figures didn’t add up and that I’d done the work. I think that you really, really need to get a grip on reality! Work out which things to defend and recognise that the industry doesn’t revolve around you and what you say, think and tell the world! You need help . . . fast!
Sir, you continue with a defamatory comment on behalf of the entire Association:
[we] do not consider the accusations, information and conclusions in Dennis Smith’s blogs to be credible, including the most recent ones involving Mr. van Hilten.
which in the context of defending yourselves from defamation litigation should be a source of serious navel-gazing to any organisation interested in protecting its butt. Your indemnity underwriters should be crapping themselves with such stupidity as to attempt to smear a blogger who deals with facts (as you very well know from our previous extensive work uncovering the Ormita fraud) especially to a vocal critic of you and your organisation going right back to 2007, nigh-on seven years!
I would like to discuss the matter of credibility that you raise in response to my expose of the Tradeqoin crowdfunding scam.
Credibility, sir, is obtained by dealing with facts. I do that. I do the work, think and blog. I believe I have credibility ESPECIALLY “the most recent [blogs] involving Mr. van Hilten“!
Credibility, sir, is enhanced with consistency and unwavering perseverence that never gives up in the face of ad hominem attacks, smear campaigns, threats, underhand back-room gossip and politics. I do that too.
Credibility, sir, is destroyed when you attack the messenger, conceal important (possibly critical) information and when you misrepresent the facts for your own political and personal benefit. You do that.
IRTA’s reputation was bad before Daniel Evans lashed out at you. Many people reported to me that they agreed with Daniel Evans’ key points (that IRTA was an inefficient old-boys network) and IRTA’s credibility has NOT gone up in the time that you have been Executive Director, and especially in your handling of the IRTAcard fiasco, the suppression of the GETS Summary Report, a very small annual conference where people kept right away in record numbers.
Reasonable thinking people Ron, ask why the guy who you lifted up as a thorough researcher working only with the facts produced a fantastic report into the Ormita fraud suddenly sprouted horns when asking questions about IRTA and UC. These questions sit in peoples’ minds Ron and your credibility is going down, daily as more and more people realise that I DON’T have an agenda as you try to make out and that your stance IS definitely agenda driven.
My advice to avoid further widespread destruction of the Association is to rectify the matters on hand ASAP –
- Release the GETS Summary Report immediately. This will show the Members that you have nothing to hide.
- Resolve the problems you have with pending court cases. Apologise if you have to and backtrack if you have to but continued bleating about me lacking credibility or repeating the nonsense that I have vindictive motivations will wear very thin for every month that goes by with more information coming into the public arena.
- Seek a constructive way to engage and deal with your detractors. You can’t please all of the people all of the time but you are clearly highly skilled at p*ssing them off when you are not honest or straight with your own words and actions
Please understand that the rest of the world will eventually come to learn what I know about Rob van Hilten, Tradeqoin and Qoin – Rob got onto the IRTA Board through a backdoor deal and contrary to the IRTA ByLaws, he is attempting to crowdfund what is essentially a scam, and IRTA is acftively supporting this scam in the face of increasingly visible evidence.
You sir, are bringing the IRTA brand into further disrepute every day you mouth off about me and support this relationship. Far better for you to cut your losses NOW, accept his resignation and let the whole matter die as quick a death as possible so that you can get on and do constructive things for the industry, rather than try to smear a blogger and stand up for one of your mates in the face of strong evidence.
Shame on you Ron, and those who are with you . . . utter shame.
Don’t be surprised when current members choose not to renew their membership at the end of the year.
I can understand that you may be too scared to engage with me directly, but for goodness sake mate . . . cut the libellous nonsense, grow up and get real.
I have warned you publically about your lack of credibility today which is 13 October 2014. I recommend that you act constructively or you will pay the price of your strategic stupidity. Think before you mouth off and if you can’t do that just STFU for the sake of IRTA, and the industry if not yourself.
Cor blimey some people . . . when will it ever end?
How about somebody have a word to the IRTA Board and get something sensible happening up there [over there to some of you] before the whole thing goes down, crashes and burns?
