Will you sell one domain name/phone number by itself – or can I buy just the phone numbers or all the domain names without the phone numbers?
Yes, but only if the entire business does not sell in a reasonable timeframe. The price of an individual name or number however will be retail – not as I calculated below, which is wholesale pricing based on a bulk purchase.
I didn’t know that you can sell a phone number. How can you do this?
Our phone numbers are not with Telecom, and we are selling a business as a going concern. No problem, all easy to do and perfectly legal!
How do I make money off a domain name/What do they cost to keep?
We pay $1.87 per month to Domain Agent. You can profit by onselling to a potential buyer with or without a value-added product or service (e.g. a car wrecking company may pay $5,000.00 for a website and $8,000.00 for the website with the best domain name www.wreckers.co.nz). You can also profit by using landing pages with advertisements that pay you income. You can also monetise a domain name yourself and optimise it for Search Engines, sending sales enquiries from your website to registered advertisers, or selling advertising space to others interested. An example of this may be www.minigolf.co.nz on which all minigolf courses are listed for a small monthly/annual fee, similar to Yellow Pages or Finda.
What are the best names and what would I be likely to sell them for?
This is an age-old question because everyone is different and as they say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. Short names, like n.co.nz are more valuable than longer names. Generic names like butchers.co.nz can be used for listing portals/websites and have excellent SEO value. One name like this, well ustilised could generate good passive income, or be sold to someone who knows the true potential. We have sold domain names for large sums when someone has seen the value and wanted them. $10,000.00 is not uncommon for a good one. For example www.photography.co.nz, with the secondary name www.digitalphotography.co.nz is a VERY high value name/combination. Personal names can be sold easily for $1,0000.00 or more with value-adding. Good generics can be worth an easy few thousand dollars each, or generate hundreds of dollars per month if moentised properly. I’ve listed the top dozen or two valuable names at the top of the list.
You say that terms are available. What do you mean by that specifically?
I am totally open to any business deal that suits you. If you pay a 50% deposit then you may wish to pay the balance off over 12 months at low interest. If you want to pay only say, a 20% deposit then your interest rate will be a lot higher. The longer the term and the larger the amount, the less generous I will be in negotiation. Hope that helps!
How did you calculate the selling price?
This buy price equates to approximately $1,000.00 per phone number, an average price of $2,500.00 for the top ten valued domain names, and well less than $500.00 each for the remainder. With good monetisation and sales of domain names at fair asking prices, this represents good value.
What would be the process of sale if I’m interested?
We talk and agree on anything you want to be sure of. You pay the deposit (non-refundable) to me, or we arrange a Sale and Purchase contract through your lawyer who then pays me. You can set the degree of security that you want in the business sale. Working through a lawyer will cost you a bob or two, but give you maximum security in the process. Once the agreement is signed, or the deposit is made, we assign the ownership of all domain names to you for your management and control and you pay the balance of the money agreed on a settlement date. They are then all yours. the same thing goes with the telephone numbers. Our upstream provider will transfer the phone account from me to you and then they are yours to use, redirect, or connect as you so wish to any provider you want.
